DESERT
OIL ON PANEL WITH CARDBOARD, WOOD, AND PLASTIC, 60 x 80 cm, 2020
Inspired by Frank Herbert’s “Dune,” this assemblage combines a futuristic aesthetic with raw, tactile materiality. The work marks an experimental turning point in my practice – I sprinkled dry pigments onto wet paint to achieve a delicate grainy texture that evokes sandy landscapes and their shifting surfaces. The layered construction of found materials creates architectural depth, while the earthy palette and granular finish capture the harsh beauty of desert environments. This technique has since become integral to my approach, adding both visual and physical dimension to the work.
