I painted a blue metal hatch, a cover in the garden outside my window, the kind that leads to something underground. It came out looking like a lake I grew up next to in southern Poland. The painting captures that double vision: entry and exit, descent and surface, the place you flee and the place that never leaves. Source as origin and source as destination.
